Coming to Ellora's Cave December 14th....
Updated cover.... scripts a little different. Fire look hotter to you? What I wouldn't give to be snuggled up there with the man of *my* dreams (the husband, of course)....

A goose in witches clothing...
She's Famous!
Okay, actually it's a wizard's hat. About a week ago, the Goose went to a church meeting entitled "A Journey to Hogwarts" and this picture was taken during the "sorting ceremony" and featured in the local newspaper. We just got a call from the in-laws and of course, I sent the husband out to fetch at least two copies of the paper.
She's chuffed, to say the least. Thinks she's royalty and outright refused to do the dishes (we fixed that tho, *evil mom snicker*). But I'm excited for her and I really think you can get a glimpse of her personality in this pic.
Bwaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

And the beat goes on...
Be it the thundering heartbeat of those getting the call, or me beating the desk while arguing with the muse--or beating the desk, laughing my ASS off at the silly things we discuss at breakfast with the bitches.
So, let's go in order, and (inserting disclaimer) in case you're thinking, it's the day before Thanksgiving here...let's stay on topic--I am, I am! All of these things I'm thankful for--publishing companies, a story to write and most of all, my friends.
Three people I've known for eons upon eons, from way back when I was a girl with a dream to write and so excited to find kindred spirits. We've all grown, changed, but we're all still writing, each having found our own voice and style--and now it seems we're reunited again at Samhain Publishing. Give a big shout out to Rae, Dee and Emma for their BIG sales news! :)
As for me, I'm counting down the minutes until I can bust outta this office and start the hectic run.
Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the stores
Not a cart was open, not a checkout line free.
Last minute shopping was well in full swing
When I stopped at the grocer to grab a few things.
The smart ones were home, mixing and dicing,
Their turkey sure to be done on time, ready for slicing.
But I in my haste, was running behind
And stuck in the world's longest supermarket line.
When out of the loudspeaker clanged such a noise
"Price check, price check for these doggie toys."
The groan was so loud, the entire store sighed
And looking around, I could see why.
Mothers with toddlers, their coats all askew
Were wrestling and tugging for something to chew.
Tempers were fading, smiles no where in sight
And I wondered why holidays lead to such plight.
My shoulder was aching from my load, though light
and I didn't think I would leave there that night.
Where's Santa when I need him, to save me from this grief?
But alas, there's the service desk, motioning relief.
I dug for my saver's card and whipped out my cash
Hoping to be home in less than a flash.
The clerk looked so tired, so ready to be done
With a night of madness--no one could call this fun.
I suffered a smile and took my food
Sidestepped a frazzled mother and her unhappy brood.
When I got to my truck, I sighed and looked back
Then clenched my fists over my hard-fought sacks.
Thanksgiving, I thought, with a laugh rather dry
I'd rather go fast food, with a burger and fry.
Cheers!!!!!!

Look what I woke up to this morning! Guess the hubby is getting his birthday wish--snow! (His birthday is tomorrow, but from the looks of this white stuff, it'll still be here in the morning...)

The bad, the good, the not at all ugly...
So last night I have to take my daughter, aka Goose, to the Urgent Care facility because the pain in her ears has not gone away. In fact, she was complaining of more often occurrences of sharp, stabbing pain. Not good. Doc agrees. So very not good. With a little Rx, she'll heal, and until then, milk her woes for all it's worth. Oh, to be the kid again.
Anyway, last night, while sitting in the waiting room, I continued my cruel and inhuman critiquing treatment of Jaci's Surviving Demon Island. With 70 pages to go, the doc summoned us and technically, that became the last breath of my poor wittle waptop. I do back up, less often than I should with laptop because of it's lack of a writable drive, but... seems I lost a blurb (yeah, groan with me) about a chapter of my latest WIP and ALL of my crit notes on SDI. Pissed? Oh yeah. And while my best buddies down at the 'puter repair shop consider it a piece of cake to provide me with a CD containing the precious contents of the "My Documents" file, I'm still nervous.
But, then I got an email from the person (Michelle) who reviewed Brand Name Dates, sending me the review, and ending her email with "Keep writing! I love your voice." Now if that doesn't give an author a positive kick in the pants, nothing will. :) And then, if THAT wasn't good enough, I get an email with THIS in it....
I'm thinking it's not so bad of a day after all....

Three things that scare you: A fire in my house with my cats stuck in it, something happening to my daughter, losing my sight.
Three things you are wearing right now: Ugh, still dressed from work. Wine colored long sleeve t-shirt with black turtleneck underneath, khaki's, and one of those black furry magic scarves cuz I was cold. :)
Three of your favorite songs: Every Breath You Take (Police), Salibury Hill (Peter Gabriel) and (I'm having trouble with three, two I can think of three is killing me here...) Hysteria (Def Leppard)

Three careers you’re considering/you’ve considered: Brain surgeon, nurse, forensic pathologist
Three ways that you are stereotypically a boy:I love cars, I have a potty mouth, did I mention I like cars--hot rods with big engines in which I can get in and work on?

Have you heard?
There's a new publishing company in town and so far, it's looking DAYUM good.
Here's a line from their website: Welcome to Samhain Publishing, Ltd., a new publishing house for those who appreciate all genres of fiction and non-fiction as well as stories that make the reader feel. Books that arouse emotions in the reader, stories that make you happy or sad, joyous or angry, or just make you think - this is what a reader can expect from a Samhain publication. It will be a new home for authors to stretch their creative wings and pen wonderful tales to entertain, inform and enrich avid readers!
I like that... make a reader feel. Cuz I don't care what genre I'm reading, I don't feel, I probably won't finish.
There are some GREAT names already up there on the coming soon page...
And Samhain Publishing has accepted one of the stories I feel rather strongly about--Believe the Magic for publication in 2006!!!!! I think we decided it was best described as light fantasy with romantic elements. (Think modern people, modern setting and some really bizarre things happening to them--magical gems, fairies, time/space jumping, and of course, a greedy villian who wants all the magic to himself--at any cost.)
In other news, it looks like I'll have a Christmas story out with Ellora's Cave. I'll have more details on that soon!
:) So, despite the flu, it's been a good couple of days! *cheers*
